Problem with big bosses in gw is that its not designed to have them in game, its basically best for balanced team-vs- balanced team

"grand" bosses are trivial to defeat (rotscale, glint, some dungeon bosses) if you are prepared because their weakness can be nearly always capitalized on with one or two skills, and 8 man team definitely has place for them.

Attempts to make bosses that are not trivial to defeat were pretty disastrous (Mallyx) because they killed off too many possible strategies and made some classes beyond useless when facing them.

As long as bigger bosses doesn't equal uber weapon drops, then sure why not.

Glint was much more of a final boss battle than the Lich, I was a little dissapointed at the end of Prophicies.

One about GW is that they seam to keep things as close to realistic as possible, in the sense that you have armor and weapons that arnt oversized or being able to deal more damage with a spell than with a steel sword.

I've always had a bit of trouble with games that allow a player with a sword to deal out more damage, in one hit, than a caster using a bolt of lightning or a ball of fire.

While I would love a boss battle that featured a massive foe and required more time and stratagey to deffeat as opposed to the current if-you-can-reach-me-past-XX-waves-of-foes-then-I-die-easy type bosses in GW there still needs to be some reason why this uber boss hasn't wiped out the planet.

The Great Destroyer was very small compared to what I had been expecting. Imagine if the lich turned out to be an Asuran......

I'm neutral on the whole thing to be honest. I like what we have now, but it would certainly rock my world, just as example, to have that massive creature under Drakkar Lake come alive, break through the ice, and try to pick a fight with me.

The Ancient Dragons are huge, so I think we'll be getting them as bosses/boss-like creatures.

I like bosses that are the size of a normal person and are much more powerful than a normal person. Examples: Jack of Blades, Maze, Darth Malak, Darth Nihilus, Darth Sion, etc. I don't like facing ridiculously huge enemies since it's just unrealistic unless you're a caster and the game has a real z-axis and large effect spells.

Big bosses tend to suck. I remember getting to the end of FFVII and fighting Safer Sephiroth(what a ridiculous name!) and even though he was pretty big and floated in the air...he stayed in the same place the entire fight. *lol* Boss size doesn't really convey boss power. Its all about attitude. I love how some of the bosses talk to you in GWEN before you fight them. Especially Charr bosses. "You want something, meat?"

Meh...size isn't everything ^^

GW isn't a cartoon game like WoW. It's meant to be a little more refined and realistic. It didn't set out to copy all the games before with uber giant bosses you'd hack at like little ants.

I think in general they should keep it as it is, but maybe have just a handful of big guys to shake it up a bit. Kinda like they have now actually with the already mentioned 'big' bosses in this thread.

Guess I'm saying I kinda like it the way it is

I would much rather see rather than 1 single boss, a solid end team.

With multiple healers, strong support, excellent shutdown and couple of guys with really sharp sticks.

That way you are required to counter and change tactics to each enemy, you cant just go and punch everything in the face because you will be shutdown and not be able to outdamage their healers.

All to often though its just a 15 min fight you sit clicking the same spells/skills over and over.
Amen, gimmick bosses are just a lousy play element. As to the size issue, I don't think it's productive for a boss to be too big to easily fit on the screen when you're fighting him. Beyond that I really don't care about boss size. It's the difficulty of the fight that feels epic to me, not the scale of the critter.

i think Drake is right, the bosses in GW dont have a personality and a story their just overpowered, look shiny and have a name. THATS ALL!. well, bosses like abbadon and frostmaw are really great i think. If i want to kill i play pvp, pve has to have a good story to work for me.

i hope they do it just like Drake said in GW2, that would make the game a lot more interesting when it comes to PvE.

Couldn't agree more.

That's exactly why I love fighting against Charr in EOTN so much, especially hard mode.

I find it much more satisfying to kill balanced groups with a healer and a prot, a warder, spirit spammer, 2 melees and some casters than having a seriously hard time against mobs of 3-5 dumb overpowered dinosaurs that can instawhipe your casters if you let them come near them.

So I'd love it if they'd put bosses in such groups. Don't give them 20k hp and have them deal 600+ damage, but make them badass leaders of a strong and good synergising team you'll have to beat.

I like the idea. I also like how they made current bosses with a cool color glow as well.

Or just have much bigger creatures!

I remember when I first saw The ROTSCALE Dragon with over 3k hp estimated. Our 8 man group failed 3 tries in a row, before finally the warrior trapped the beast into a corner somehow, probably a glitch by todays standars, and I was finally able to get him with a double meteor shower nuke.

Now I know everyone 2 mans him, I've done it, its fun, But this was one tought boss to crack back when his green was worth 100K plus/

I expect that GW2 will have much more dramatic combat, which I think is what's missing in GW.

There are tough bosses, and there are big bosses, but when combat is just about getting a tank to control, and the rest of the party to throw everything they've got... well, I guess that's a problem with most MMORPGs at the moment.

At least GWEN made you dodge fireballs and stuff... does that help?

Hes referring to epic style bosses, such as the ones in L2 and WoW.

Examples...

http://media.pc.ign.com/media/846/84...g_3795462.html <-- Boss
http://www.l2nordic.dk/cms/media/pics/frontl.jpg <-- Player Size

Gotta use your imagination, theres videos online though.
